How do I book a lesson, tour, or stay?
Book online in a couple of taps using the buttons above, message us on WhatsApp, email reservations@iguanasurf.com, or just walk into the shop. Reservations are recommended in high season, but walk-ins are always welcome when we have space.
What are your hours?
The shop is open and running surf every day from 7 AM to 6 PM. We answer messages daily from 8 AM to 10 PM, so you’ll always hear back quickly.
How fast will I hear back?
We reply to messages every day between 8 AM and 10 PM — usually within a couple of hours. WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us.
What languages do you speak?
Our whole team and all of our instructors are fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
Do I need experience to take a lesson?
Not at all. Tamarindo is ranked among the best places in the world to learn — warm water, a sandy bottom, gentle rolling waves, and no rocks. Lessons run from complete first-timers to experienced surfers looking to sharpen up.
What’s included in a surf lesson?
Ninety minutes of instruction with a professional bilingual instructor, a soft-top surfboard, and a rash guard, plus use of a locker, changing room, and shower.
How much are surf lessons?
Group lessons start at $60, semi-private at $80, and private at $100 (plus tax). Bring friends — group discounts are available. Rates are current for 2026; see the lessons page for the latest.
Can kids take lessons?
Yes — kids and adults are both welcome, and every lesson is tailored to the surfer. Message us about younger children and we’ll recommend the best setup.
What’s included in the surf camp?
Our week-long packages include seven nights in our beachfront hotel, daily surf, a guided surf trip, video analysis, a photo package, daily breakfast, and unlimited board rentals for your stay.
Do you offer airport transfers?
Yes — round-trip transfers from Liberia (LIR) airport are included on Saturday-to-Saturday camp stays, with the shuttle departing Liberia at 2:00 PM on Saturdays.
Is the camp good for beginners?
Absolutely. We keep our groups small and intimate — not a spring-break-style camp — so you get real attention whether you’re brand new or refining your style.
Can I book just a room, without the camp?
Yes. Our beachfront boutique hotel takes nightly stays year-round — check dates and book through the availability link above.
Do you rent surfboards?
Yes — we rent a full range of boards by the hour, day, or week, right on the beach.

What should I bring?
Just swimwear, sunscreen, a towel, and your stoke — we provide the boards and rash guards. For camp stays we send a full packing list ahead of time.
