Tamarindo group surf lessons are perfect for 1st time surfers that may be traveling solo or don’t mind being in a group environment to learn with other beginners. We pair up the groups so you don’t have to worry about a thing all you have to do is sign up!
What to Expect:
- Small class sizes – Maximum 4 students per instructor for personalized attention
- 20-minute beach instruction – Covering safety, surf etiquette & the basics
- Hands-on practice – Learn proper paddling, popping up, stance & wave reading
- Guided water session – Your instructor will be with you the entire time, helping you catch your first waves!

Our family of 5 had a great experience. All of us were able to stand up and surf, and we enjoyed it so much we rented boards from them the next day.

Great Surf Trip thanks to Iguana Surf
I booked the the Ultimate Iguana Surf Camp package in December 2024. This includes 7 nights in a shared dorm, shuttle to/from the airport, 5 surf lessons, 1 surf trip, video/photos, and unlimited surfboard rentals for the duration of the week. Everything was well organized/coordinated via Whatsapp (thanks Oscar). The airport pickup was super easy and convenient. The hostel itself is well managed as is the surf shop. The instructors were all great, especially Luis. Every single member of the staff was super helpful with questions/recommendations. Tamarindo is a great place to learn to surf. Location is also super convenient, though, Tamarindo itself isn't too big. If you're looking for place to learn to surf, don't over think it, just book and enjoy. Pura Vida!
